Upgraded Plugs / Coil Packs

36 posts in this topic

I have a 2010 6.1 with 14,000 miles.

Currently just running CAI, Corsa and tuning.

I want to upgrade my plugs and possibly coil packs.

Looking for recommendations.

keep the factory coil packs.. No need to change plugs...   What is your budget? Cam and heads about 4k with tuning..W an average 80 rwhp  S/C between $5800-9k installed/tuned depending on brand. Average 100-125 rwhp..

As many above have stated the stock coil packs are fine unless you just want to throw away some money on MSD's for looks. I've seen the stock coil packs on many motors making 500rwhp on up to 1100rwhp with no issues caused by the coil packs.

10-12 psi I run 035-040 gap.   Stock coil packs

What heat range, brand plugs do you run? I was running 1 step colder ngk iridium, left the factory gap of ,045 because I didn't know better put it on the dyno and got 357rwhp on a stock 6.1 with a techco @ 8.8 psi. Re gapped the plugs to .032 and got 531 rwhp. If I can go 035-040 @ 10-12 psi I definitely want to

You could be in the 7s with upgraded coil packs

Can you get the same ET's by painting the stockers red and writing MSD on them?
