Kb 3.6Lc And 4.2Lc Blowers

488 posts in this topic

I am rooting for you.  Maybe the people out there trying to make the 3.6 and 4.2 work just have been missing something.  The bypass has been talked about plenty in the past.  Just noting that I have yet to see a 3.6 or a 4.2 at an event running consistently.  I've seen big hp dyno runs and 1 or 2 fast T&T passes and that's it.

True....it don't mean anything until it runs the number.  From my perspective I have seen enough 2.8's and 3.6's running 9's I already knew I could get what I want out of the 4.2, just wasn't sure about the daily driver aspects.   Right now, my goal is a nice smooth 9.5 @ 140 or so boost only and I will reassess from there.

We had the bypass figured out a year ago Chris,6 lbs off the line and ramping up to full boost as desired, Lakey should sit back and learn a few things before becoming an expert on KB's, now if you can get the NAG1 to work without Bills new stand alone that would be something.

Good to know, as this isn't exactly rocket science.....just hard work and perseverance at the track.  No disrespect to those that have already attempted this but controlling that bypass is going to be absolutely key to managing power off the line and its exciting to think that ultimately it could be used to dial in a boost curve or limit power on top end if you had it hardwired into a truly programmable controller.

I have no intentions of pioneering the Nag1 shift issues.....smart money is on just following Bill's lead here and adopting what has been proven to work.

haha yeah I just noticed I used OG and redneck together. weird.

Chris is a smart cookie and damn nice guy to hang out with.

OG Redneck eh?  Perhaps something in that Southern MD water has seeped into my Northeastern veins.   I will try to live up to that as best I can.

All I know is it is about time to git-r-done because in the immortal words of our patron Saint Ricky Bobby "If you ain't first you are last" :)

You know what I meant.....

i want one

i got the th400 and the gear vendors OD best money i have ever spent as far as i know my challenger is the first one to get a unit, it fits in the tunnel with no mods, allows for a shorter driveshaft (critical speed) and shifts in to OD like the th400 shifts, no lag at all, but one recomendation is getting the pro mod version because of the weight of our cars, just a peice of mind knowin it will hold up to 2000hp with no issues

I believe the REAL test for the T-400 will be in my 8 second (hopefully Mid-8 second) HEAVY jeep.

We will build the T-400 with the absolute best of the best components possible.

It will be a pain in the ass to swap as I will need to change the 4.11 gears I just installed for the NAG1, overdrive and lockup converter.

Interesting season coming up:)

Another CF driveshaft, damn...

Probably swap it late March or April.

NAG1.

I will try a T-400 later this spring.

I'm not convinced it will be quicker......

BigAl's purple car 60' was better with the NAG1 launching in 2nd, than the T-400.

Think about how fast the purple car would have been with a dialed in racing converter, :)  It's great to see the trans options available today, NAG1, 2 or 3 speed Th400 ,2 speed Super glides, get the wheelie bars Bill your going to need them, :D

Kenne Bell has just released the new 4.7 LC units, testing was done on a Ford mustang with great results, the housing is the same as the 4.2 in width and length but the internals have been opened up and new larger units installed, shipping for Dodge cars should be late Jan 2014.

that sounds like a plan!

With the 2nd gear launch in the NAG1 or the 2.x 1st gear in the T-400, launching on a less than sticky track should be possible.
