On September 24, 2016, Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 24800 block of Cypresswood Drive in reference to a major accident involving a vehicle and two pedestrians. When the responding units arrived, they found two adult males with severe injuries to their legs. The males were pushing a disabled vehicle off the roadway when they were struck from behind by a 2010 silver Dodge Challenger being operated by Ashley Villarreal. Upon the arrival of the first deputy, Ashley Villarreal entered back into her vehicle and fled the scene. She was stopped a short time later by deputies and detained. Both males were transported to Memorial Herman Woodlands Hospital by Cy-Creek EMS.
Deputies with the Precinct 4 Accident Investigation Team responded and found that the Dodge Challenger was traveling south on Cypresswood Drive in the outside lane of travel. The Dodge Challenger was being driven by Ashley Villarreal with her 5 year old daughter as a passenger. The two males were pushing a disabled vehicle south in the outside lane of travel with the emergency hazard lights on. The Challenger struck them and the rear of their vehicle, causing severe crush related injuries to both vivtim’s lower extremities.
“Investigating units detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of Ms. Villarreal and completed on-scene field sobriety testing. A search warrant was obtained authorizing the collection of a blood sample as part of the investigation.” – Precinct 4Constable Mark Herman
Ashley Villarreal was arrested, charged with Intoxication Assault and Evading in a Motor Vehicle, and booked into the Harris County jail. Her bond was set at $35,000.00 out of the 209th District Court.
