[MMM] 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 – Dyno Tested

Up until now, we have yet to see any of the 2012 SRT products on a chassis dyno. We certainly know the 392 HEMI makes big power; but how much of that power is getting to the wheels is the real question.

During the Dodge HEMI Highway Tour last year, we got to see the 2011 Challenger 392 with a six speed manual on the rollers and it was astonishing. Two separate dyno runs showed horsepower ranging from 420 to 432, and torque from 419 to 424 lb/ft. But, again, that was with a manual transmission which is almost always more efficient than an automatic.

So today was the day to see just how well the trusty old 5-speed automatic is getting power to the wheels. You know, the 5-speed automatic that’s received its fair share of criticism lately?

Take a look at the link below to see the Charger pull 417.6 Horsepower and 415.7 lb/ft of torque to the wheels. The sound is fantastic, so turn it up…

Another feature that seems to be flying under the radar is the new Horsepower and Torque meter found in the on-board Performance Pages in the 300 and Charger. With a few simple taps of the 8.4-inch touchscreen, you can see just how much power the HEMI is making (shown below).

Now that is a nice feature. Would be even nicer if there were other performance related info available on the LCD, like AFR, IAT, etc.

Um this is all lies I made the first 392 with the help of Alan last year.......so.......

 

Before you call people liars ...

 

The writer said "Up until now, we have yet to see any of the 2012 SRT products on a chassis dyno." Did you somehow get a 2012 Challenger 392 last year??? I'm guessing not.

Either way this statement - "Up until now, we have yet to see any of the 2012 SRT products on a chassis dyno." from the article is STILL true and not lies ;)

 

It doesn't say "Up until now, we have yet to see any of the new 392 products on a chassis dyno." <---That statement would be false ;)

 

And I could be wrong here...but seeing as the Charger Driveshaft is longer than the Challenger - wouldn't that equal to more drivetrain loss than the Challenger? ;)
