First time towing with my wifes 2011 Duragno Hemi. Pulled my rig down to AMP on Saturday to pull the trans....

It did not tow as well as my 1500 Ram but she did better then I would of guessed and didnt even squat like my ram did stock.

I would estimate my car and trailer weigh about 6700Lbs///

that being said I might trade the Ram in on a 2012 SRT Charger or 300.... :D

Better look out, do not confuse having the power to pull you trailer with having the right wheel base to pull it.

Well, I took her on a 140 mile trip and was overall impressed.

Wait until you have to switch lanes fast, at speed because of some asshole on the hiway. And that car and trailer is doing the steering instead of the Durango. It happened to me with a 1/2 ton single cab truck, bought a crew cab 1 ton truck 2 days later.

I'm getting a Durango as my tow vehicle at the end of this year. My car only weighs 3200 though.

I actually never had that issue with my Ram at all, The durago feels good but she didnt pass at high speed as well as the truck did, more then likely from the 3.92 gears the truck comes with..

For the most part my local track is probably 10 miles away as the crow flies. Besides going to AMP and the track, that consists of most of the towing. Although I might use it to go to VMP

Yeah short trips are less of a risk. But you never know what may happen? I run a crew cab 3/4 ton now, the last time I went to the track I was coming down an off ramp about 30 MPH. My car slid on the trailer for some reason and the rear tire slammed against the trailer fender. It felt like I got hit by another vehicle and threw my truck sideways some. Wheel base and the weight of the tow vehicle will save your ass. Budoboy thinks he is safe because he car weighs 3200 pounds, need to add the weight of the trailer to that too. I know the Hemi has the power to pull the load, but power will not be what controls the load when towing.

The Durango has a rated towing capacity of 7400 lbs, so you should be fine towing a 6700 lb trailer so long as you have electric brakes for the trailer. The Durango should have the electronic trailer sway control built in too, but check your build sheet.

yeah, the trailer does have brakes on one set of wheels...

I do have the tow package on the Durango so should I assume it has built in sway control ?

That's good to know. I've been thinking about getting a Durango for my wife. However, her Seqioua tows just as well if if not better than my Ram. May just have to keep the Sequoia.

yeah, its work. Its not as good as the Ram, I did have some more sway with it but also alot of it is being used to towing with the Durango too... knowing its habits.

FYI, As soon as I installed those Timbren Ram Springs (Rubber replacement shocks to the stock "bottom out" shocks" it towed so much smoother. You might want to look into them, they are only $200

There was a guy towing his Jeep in bradenton. Said it towed like a champ with his durango. One day when I have drp money I would like to get the Durango as well. In the mean time my 2007 F-150 tows my charger with zero issues. Been all up and down the east coast a few times..

I will be towing with my 2011 Jeep GC Overland tomorrow to CF3. My Jeep came equipped with trailer towing package, class 4 hitch and Quadra Lift II and anti sway built in. We installed a equalizer hitch to the Jeep. Towing our 2010 Challenger SRT.

I'll let you know how it tows on a 500 mile trip.

Cool, I have towed alot more since this post and its a pleasure to tow with the Durango. At some point though, I am taking it down to Jon @ AMP and seeing if I can flash it with the Ram software to unlock some more power from it :D
