So I have a before and after dyno sheets but from different dyno. Had the comp cam vvt 266 cam and head install done. numbers before install on a mustang dyno numbers went thus: HP @ 4036 = 183 / TQ = 234. Max HP 302.6 @ 5561/ Max TQ 301.2 @ 5079...

Arrington Dyno HP @ 4000 = 275 / TQ = 360, Max HP @ 5300 = 350.8 / Max TQ @ 4200 = 382.6

If I'm able to estimate the gains around 4000rpm   would be 92HP, 148.6TQ

My first  question...  do you believe that you gained 92hp/148lb-ft at the wheels from a head/cam swap?

My second question... did you run it at the track before the swap?

No, butt dyno  stuff. One thing for sure, after the adaptive relearn, it is pressing me against the seat. Never did that before. I gained something worth feeling at the butt. spins the wheels a lot harder than before. So my question is as stated at 4000rpms is the gains on the dyno real.

As long as your happy is what matters, BUT comparing two different dynos is apples and oranges..

I am happy yes. I'm just wondering if gains at a particular rpm is significant to people or just the overall gain. I will take this truck back to my performance shop for a run or two on the dyno. I really wish Arrington would have done a before and after dyno run. The truck has truly come alive, it will throw me in the seat and keep me there for a quick sec.

Based on what Im seeing the math is wrong. Your max value on the Stang dyno shows 302HP and 300TQ compared to arrington @ 350HP 382TQ.....

48HP gain and 82TQ seems very realistic for the mods

Looks like she was making steam up top, why was the run cut short to only 5300 or so rpms?

I agree with that,100%. But look at the gains at 4000rpms. It's pretty significant gain over stock. Also, I'm not sure why Arrington stopped at the rpm range they did. Maybe because they produced better results lower. At any rate, they did a nice job with what they had to work with. Maybe in time they will tweak things for me.

Thats because of when they started the dyno....  both started around 4000K so its not something I consider to be an accurate #.... it they would of started around 3000 rpms you would of been able to compare it

The reason a Ram can't be dyno'd below 4000 is because it will down shift on you. Very difficult to hold the gear. It's been a problem since early 2000.

Now that you mention that, Arrington told me that also.

No, the arrington sheet is wrong at the bottom. You can see where it normalizes. Also your stock numbers are extremely low mostly due to the fact it was a mustang dyno. Go back to the mustang dyno for the after pull.
Looks like around 4400rpm, your converter locked up and thats where the accurate numbers are.

The dyno is a tuning tool. Unless you are measuring before and after on the same dyno and closely control all of the variables (engine temp, air temp, DA, etc.), then any comparisons are only an approximation.
