Some folks here know I have had some challenges keeping my drive train in working order. ![]()
Well, after my last series of trans issues (FUCK ROCKLAND BTW) - which Erik @ BFNY figured out and solved, I had developed a very nasty "clunk" on every shift. When I say nasty, I mean scary. Every time you would pull load off of the drivetrain it sounded like the car was coming apart and something was coming through the floor. At full throttle I was waiting to see my rear tires pass me up. However, everything "looked" ok. Erik must have had it up on the lift 5 or 6 times trying to figure out where the sound was coming from and finally determined that it was coming from my 8.8 Diff. Well, work and life have prevented me from playing much with my car this year, but I finally got my car back up to Erik to tear apart the 8.8 and figure it out. Well, let's just say that it was just a "touch" on the loose side. After going through it and replacing bearings, races, and cleaning up the axle stubs that were "marred" he turned it back over to me.
I can now say for the first time since my first trans gave up the ghost, the car is now back in full working order. I would say that it drives better than it did stock and is a pleasure to drive - even in downtown traffic!
THANKS to Erik for solving this problem. Now I hope to get back to the track and see where I can get this thing. Erik is encouraging me to get to the track soon so the 66 Charger build gets done faster!
When picking a shop to work on your car, there are many choices out there. Some good; some not so good. I'd recommend BFNY to anyone.
