Can you explain the setup? It looks like it's locking the tensioner in place. Benefits of this setup?

Honestly I would see a good shock doing more than the hard mount.  You still need to allow for the belt lengthening and shortening due to the loading.  That hard mount is going to break some shit.  Control the spring tensioned damper and you'll be good.

Explain the logic here.... Locking the tensioner??? Why bother with the "tensioner" at all? Why not just use a pulley there instead.  You're going to have belt slap all over the place. You're praying it stays in place?? 

 

Again... please explain how this works without snapping the belt?

I believe the ideal behind the design is so you can adjust the tension on the belt. No different than ole school V belt systems, most had only manual adjustments.
