Hey everyone, in a few days I'm special ordering a 16 S/P and won't receive for 5 weeks or so but Ive never owned a brand new vehicle and I was just wondering is there is any kind of break in period? I've built up older hot rods and I'm sure it's different with these new motors. Either way I'm not going to go smashing the pedal right away but just checking in to see what's best proxess if any for a brand new one.

Don't beat the dogshit out of it for a few hundred miles and drive it like stole it. Really just don't go crazy. A few pedal to the metal runs are OK.

Ok thanks. That's what I was figuring. When I test drove one it definitely doesn't like going slow i can see that and I'm sure is very tempting to play around but I just want to take really good care of her too.
Any break in period with the brakes too. I know some companies have you do some hard stops....no hard stops...etc...so they don't make any noise. Once again I know I sounds like I'm gonna beat the piss out of it haha, which I never will and I always take great care of my cars I'm just new to the "brand" new stuff.

I swapped out my std brake rotors on my R/T to the larger dimpled/slotted SRT fronts (14") and Daytona rears (14") and had to "bed the brakes"... that is 5 or 6 panic stops from 60 mph to 5 mph then park and let cool. This really gets the brakes hot, you will smell them, and you get a bit of pad transfer which what you want. The early R/T's were notorious for having warped rotors. Not sure about the Scat Pack.. you may want to check the size first.

Follow the owner's manual for engine break-in. It will probably say something like drive it easy and no WOT runs for the first 500 miles.

As far as brakes, most people around here recommend standard bed-in procedure, as outlined here: https://www.zeckhaus...cPath=6446_6443

Personally, I'd change the oil after the first 500 miles, but some would say that's unnecessary.

Just don't run it at the same rpm's to long. Vary your speeds. It is good to get on it pretty hard when you reach a slite grade in the road & then back off when the road levels back off. Make sure you let the motor warm up good before you start playing. I would stay out of slow traffic & not let motor idle for long periods of time. It should be broke in pretty good around 500 miles. Don't baby the motor after that. After all it is under warranty. Anything happens to it Dodge will have to fix it.
