The 370Z was a great car.  I'd had it about 5 years and started looking for something to replace it with.  I drove the 2SS Camaro and loved it and reached out to Lee at Laukemper Motors to see what we could do and in 3 emails we had a deal.  I've had it for a little over a week now and the weather has been awesome so I've put quite a few miles on it.  1000 mile oil change for break in was done yesterday so now I can really test it and play with some of the performance timers.  No pans or anything else blocking the oil plug or filter making oil changes a breeze.  Space and heat must have been a concern for the engineers. It looks like the space shuttle under neath with all the aluminum foil covering wires and other items.  I can't say enough about how easy of a car deal it was.  First one I've really had that was actually fun and not frustrating at all.

I did a quick review on my website, click the first image if you're interested.  I'm gonna weigh it and get track numbers soon.  I got the magnetic ride suspension which is great.  Firm when you need it and comfortable when you don't.  The dual-mode exhaust was another option.  Sounds freaking bad ass and I'm actually surprised GM got away with it being so loud when in sport and track mode.  Has a nice crackle when you roll off the throttle and a deep bark at startup.  Silver stripes and grey painted wheels were the other options as well as the 8 speed auto ( :o ) so now I'm also a burrito eater.  With these new transmissions, I'm not sure there's a reason to get a manual anymore but still glad the Challenger has a 3rd pedal.  It seem to suite that car   I can shift this one with the stick or the paddles.  Must be habit to use the stick as I have to remind myself there are even paddles on the wheel.  At WOT it shifts fast and hard and the exhaust gives a nice crackle between gears.  Even Malena giggled and said it sounded bad ass when we were making some spirited passes.

I've been playing with the manual shift modes a lot and still getting about 21MPG.  Lee said to expect about 28 when I stop doing so much WOT lol

Has some kind of launch control feature I'm anxious to try out.  May do that this weekend if I get time.

Here's some pics.  Quality is WAY up over the previous generation.  That's true with all of the big 3 these days it seems which is great for us car enthusiasts.  Leather is really nice, controls feel nice, buttons have that nice click to them and the doors, trunk, and hood all close with that solid clunk without any rattling or anything.

Ugly intake tube, yuck.

I like this.  The HUD shows RPM, g-force, gear position, and speed.  You can change it to a bunch of other stuff but this is where I leave it.  Tells you what's on the radio when you change stations and caller id when you get a call as well.

Thanks everybody.  lol Greg, I've already started growing the mullet haha.

I will say Camaro owners, at least the ones I've come across on the C6 forum are a bit different than us.  A lot of it reminds me of CT

That ugly ass intake box and tube will likely be the first thing to go bye bye.  I may powder coat the calipers red as well.  Other than that I'm just gonna drive it a while, although a TT system would be nice *ninja*

This car has a lot of good going for it but it's certainly not perfect.  The brakes produce more dust than I would like and you can't lean the seats back very far.  It has a back seat, but I have no idea how anyone could sit in it.  My legs won't fit between the back of the driver seat to even try to sit back there.  It may get yanked and a seat delete put in.  No one will ever sit back there anyway.  Another odd thing is that the A/C has upper, lower, defog and lower, but no upper and lower.  I found that kind of odd, but maybe they felt it had enough buttons lol  Cam, you're right there's a button for almost everything.  You guys know I'm real particular so if that's all I've found to complain about that's saying something. Oh, and it doesn't have an AFR gauge for some reason.  It has all kinds of compasses and other BS but no AFR gauge??

I do really dig the hard body lines this one has.  Really changed up the looks a lot from the last gen.  I'm used to the 370Z so this car does feel quite a bit larger even though they weigh almost the same.  It is MUCH easier to get in and out of than the Z though which is a huge bonus and having a real trunk is nice as well.

I'm blessed to be able to have this and the Challenger, but if I had to pick between just one I'd definitely buy the Challenger for sure.  It's got a lot more of that muscle car vibe that I just love.  Honestly the only thing muscle car about this Camaro is the engine and the noise it makes.  Everything is is really more sport car class to me.

As soon as we got in and fired it up the first time Malena said it was much more my personality than the 370Z.  She said I looked like a hair dresser driving around in that thing lol

Now I'm off to install my radar counter measures

Congrats, the 8 speed SS is a sub 4 second ride right off the lot and IMO a great bargain. Have been looking at them also for a dd.

I'm conflicted about this  ....I didnt read the write up and went straight to the pics (yes, I did that with Playboy and Penthouse too, unlike all the other liars that would say "I get it for the articles" ) and the first thing I said to myself "at least its a 6 speed" :D ......then I read the article :(. I was fooled by the shifter boot. I will say though it looks awesome. There is a guy at my job that just got an RS with the same blue/white stripe combo and it looks even better live than in pics. Good luck and enjoy the burritos!! Once your full you can hop back in the Challenger.

I'm blessed to be able to have this and the Challenger, but if I had to pick between just one I'd definitely buy the Challenger for sure.  It's got a lot more of that muscle car vibe that I just love.  Honestly the only thing muscle car about this Camaro is the engine and the noise it makes.

Why do I think if we go to C6 that we will see an exact opposite comparison?!?!?!  :o

You guys know me better than to be a fanboy.  I tell those C6.com guys the same thing.  They seem to get real butt hurt over it though lol  It's like some of them are brainwashed by Chevy and can't admit when there are blatant faults.  They're a bit more touchy feely than we are.

First mod done.  Now I can fly under the radar as it were
