The 370Z was a great car. I'd had it about 5 years and started looking for something to replace it with. I drove the 2SS Camaro and loved it and reached out to Lee at Laukemper Motors to see what we could do and in 3 emails we had a deal. I've had it for a little over a week now and the weather has been awesome so I've put quite a few miles on it. 1000 mile oil change for break in was done yesterday so now I can really test it and play with some of the performance timers. No pans or anything else blocking the oil plug or filter making oil changes a breeze. Space and heat must have been a concern for the engineers. It looks like the space shuttle under neath with all the aluminum foil covering wires and other items. I can't say enough about how easy of a car deal it was. First one I've really had that was actually fun and not frustrating at all.
I did a quick review on my website, click the first image if you're interested. I'm gonna weigh it and get track numbers soon. I got the magnetic ride suspension which is great. Firm when you need it and comfortable when you don't. The dual-mode exhaust was another option. Sounds freaking bad ass and I'm actually surprised GM got away with it being so loud when in sport and track mode. Has a nice crackle when you roll off the throttle and a deep bark at startup. Silver stripes and grey painted wheels were the other options as well as the 8 speed auto (
) so now I'm also a burrito eater. With these new transmissions, I'm not sure there's a reason to get a manual anymore but still glad the Challenger has a 3rd pedal. It seem to suite that car I can shift this one with the stick or the paddles. Must be habit to use the stick as I have to remind myself there are even paddles on the wheel. At WOT it shifts fast and hard and the exhaust gives a nice crackle between gears. Even Malena giggled and said it sounded bad ass when we were making some spirited passes.
I've been playing with the manual shift modes a lot and still getting about 21MPG. Lee said to expect about 28 when I stop doing so much WOT ![]()
Has some kind of launch control feature I'm anxious to try out. May do that this weekend if I get time.
Here's some pics. Quality is WAY up over the previous generation. That's true with all of the big 3 these days it seems which is great for us car enthusiasts. Leather is really nice, controls feel nice, buttons have that nice click to them and the doors, trunk, and hood all close with that solid clunk without any rattling or anything.

Ugly intake tube, yuck.

I like this. The HUD shows RPM, g-force, gear position, and speed. You can change it to a bunch of other stuff but this is where I leave it. Tells you what's on the radio when you change stations and caller id when you get a call as well.
