Installed the API 1500 dual pump return style setup a bunch of months back. Noticed recently that if below 1/4 tank (yea I know, don't let it get that low) and I pull a wot where the 2nd pump kicks in, it'll bog and spit fire (literal) out tailpipe.

Normal with a dual pump return style system? Or did I lose loose some return from the right tank into the left?

The evic showed 5 left and 17 right when it happened today. All is fine when I fill the tank until right around 1/4 tank.

It actually cavitates the pumps when it's that low. I doubt you have it hooked up wrong.

Great, thanks. Things kind of caught be by surprise and I thought oh shit, until I put 2 and 2 together.

Dude in Cobra behind me thought flames were really cool though ... lol

Yeah....you need to be closer to 1/3 or more for WOT pulls. 1/4 tank is minimum.

Any reason not to modify a pump for the passenger side to feed fuel back over?

You ever consider having the return go to the feed basket on the driver's side? We have the return from our 1500 pump going right back into the basket and we can run at WOT with wheels up 9.8 at the drag strip with as little as 4 gallons of fuel.

~4 gallons is the point where the issues start with the current setup.

For the sake of pump longevity, I'll be more mindful to keep it above 1/2 tank now.

Mine does the same thing on my FORE return style set up. I lost a motor last year by not having enough fuel in the tank. 1/2 tank from then on.

After experiencing what happens in the situation, I can see how you could lose an engine.

So, for the sake of pump AND engine longevity, I'll be sure to keep it at 1/2 tank as well.
