Thanks for the confirmation Speedy... I'm definitely seeing a pattern here.
I just got off the phone with KB and they now say my BAP is good. When they tested the used one I have they blew a fuse but David said it must been the pump they were using; the BAP vendor ran it with no issues.
I don't wanna use it... but I'd feel kinda shady selling something that I wouldn't personally recommend. What do I do with it?

How do I get this into my basket without all the "modified basket" issues? Better yet, what's your cell number?? ![]()

Some people don't care and use a BAP anyway, so no harm in selling it to someone that wants it.
There are a lot of options out there now with direct drop in pumps that will support what you need without a BAP. Watched a buddy's engine go at the track with a BAP related problem.

That's true Speedy; I was hoping to hear something like that. I'll get it shined and sailed then.
$100 and I'll give it to you.
I'm sure you would! Im tryin not to bug him too much until I get my stuff back from KB and scheduled for shop time.

Wasn't the BAP wired wrong ? I thought I read that thread awhile back? BAP was good but the shop that wired it screwed up the install. Love my RT or something ?

Most the BAP issues are due to improper wiring. Having said that, why risk you block and the tear down and rebuild over a few hundred bucks on a proper fuel setup? Never understood that...

There was something going on with it for sure. It did fine for a while and started to pop fuses and what not, then kaboom his motor went at the track. What I think happened is it over volted the pump for too long and it started to burn the fuel pump out and it lost fuel pressure when it needed it most.

Exactly. With new high performance pumps being available now there's no need for one.

So for all we know BAPs are 100% reliable if wired correctly?

If you are comfortable overspinning what a pump was designed to flow by boosting the power to it.

You guys and the guys at LXF have steered me into the best possible solution currently available, appreciated.
I came close to getting that API saddle hat; last year this woulda been the best thing goin for a simple low-boost upgrade. However, the Walbro 450 recommendation and the comments about "lots of good options out there" kept me looking.
I pulled the trigger on API's Competition Single Pump last night... supposedly it comes with the 450 but at least one other person got the Walbro 400 with it. So idk, we'll see what ships. If API's flow charts are to be believed, this setup will signficantly out flow the dual hat 255 setup at 58 psi, by about twice as much.
Alcharger has a nice writeup about installing a 450 into the basket, but I like the API kit at $449... just a couple of C-notes above the cost of the pump.

I can agree with that; fuel pump is one component I do not want to stress.

The nice thing about that is you get lots of fuel pump and it doesn't draw a lot of amps so the stock wiring is good to go. Makes the install a lot less invasive.

I think the pump int he API unit is way overkill for 8psi. They may have other pump options for that setup though.

I just put in another "the last fuel system you will ever need"
The return system I had last year was the billet triple hat and 3 DivisionX Stryker 340lph Fuel Pump's. All the fuel lines were PTFE -8 and -6 from Earl's. All I had to do was have more fuel line added to reach a custom fabbed fuel cell welded to my ice box and add a Magna Fuel MP-4303 - MagnaFuel ProTuner 750 Series in-Line Fuel
Pumps. I fucking love it!

Exactly Speedy, no worries about upgrading the power feed to 6 gauge.
I know some people have melted their wiring with the dual hat... be careful guys.
What would be a good pump for running 8psi? 392 pump or go with the
API unit, I'm leaning toward the API unit
6.1 OEM will support 6psi. The 6.4 OEM flows about 25% more... so I'm *guessing* it'll support 8 psi. The API's will support a lot more, maybe 12 psi. Thing is, the 6.4 pump price has risen so much (~$300) that it makes sense to just get the API.
