I was looking into this at first, but then wanted a custom engine cover. Well chances are, I'll be returning that due to shady customer service and getting the 6.1 intake mani instead. I want it ported. Is it worth doing? If so what do I port it to or is it easier to buy from modern muscle? How many miles are on the average intake modern muscle sells? I only have 20K on mine now, Id like to stay in that range or lower.
And of course its going to be polished also. lol thats a MUST!
I hear this is a simple bolt on, but do I need 6.1 bolts? I also hear I need somethign with fuel rails? How much are those and where do I get them?

If your buying it for a performance upgrade, some will say its not going to improve it. If anything, some say it actually hurts performance used on a 5.7. It becomes a large heat sink. Personally I think having it ported would be a waste of time unless you are doing a head/came swap as well. The intake can be had used for $400.00 or so complete on the forums. Just have to catch one at right moment or post WTB ad. Not sure about the fasteners if they exchange or not. The mounting flange may be a different thickness plastic vs. alum. There are also the little rubber seals, dont forget about those.

Yours is a 2010, right? If so, the manifold will bolt up without adapters.

You will need the manifold, bolts, fuel rails, injectors, pcv valve, pcv hoses, and map sensor. I also had to modify the fuel feed line from the firewall, as the inlet on the fuel rails is on the passenger side with the 6.1 intake and driver side with the 5.7 Eagle.

I wasnt sure if mileage did matter. So it sounds like this has more cons then pros. What else can I do that will make the engine bay look better yet also give me performance for my money? I am thinking of taking the engine cover off and having something better as my centerpiece.

If looks and performance are equally important, you will need to open your wallet and install a twin screw/roots supercharger. Nothing says "Watch out, motherfucker!" like a big ole blower sitting on top of the intake manifold.

If that is not the answer you are looking for, you need to decide if looks or performance is more important. If performance... are we talking on the street or on the track?

6.1 intakes are nice and ported it will give you a fair uncrease in power. Do a TB port or get a 85 mm and a good CAI to finish out the intake side of things.

If it's lowbuck performance you are looking for just spray it.

I disagree. A pair of turbos sitting out in front of the motor says the same thing. Plus it says, ill probably hook up and whoop your ass.

Your cheep and my cheep might be two different things. But that still doesnt solve th Centerpeice delema. Its not a roots S/C. Now if you had a Polished Techco, I'd be interested.

I am in the market for a very inexpencive Polished Techco. I would say looks wins 65%-45%. I have enough performance for the street. The 45% is for track performance.

I am not against porting the TB, but I want to keep my CAI, which is sized at stock TB size. How easy is it to get a different connective piece?

If it's lowbuck performance you are looking for just spray it.

Once I have hit a wall in everything I can do without a S/C if I dont find a polished techco in my price range, I will do a 50-75 shot wet.

For those of us "in the know"... I agree.
For the 99%... polished Kenne Belle or Magnacharger.
