I pull the fuse with the key in my pocket like I was told & my car runs worse than it did before. Spits and stumbles on accerlation. It was just coming into it's own, I could stomp it in first or second anytime I wanted and get rid of some excess rubber but I sure fixed that. HELP!!!!!! ;)

Wow. That's odd. Is your motor 100% stock? I thought pulling the fuse set the computer back to it's original setting.

Somebody that knows something can probably help. Sorry that I can't.

Sorry but I never pulled the fuse so I'm of no help. Perhaps it just needs to run a bit before the adaptives mellow out.

My opinion: resetting the PCM (the fuse trick) is worthless. Any supposed benefit from doing this is a myth. It takes the PCM only about 15 to 20 minutes for the various adaptives to settle out. How your car performs during that short window after they are reset will vary. And, as you have found, sometimes it will hamper performance!

The fuse trick is no different than disconnecting the battery...the only time I have done it is when I have installed a power adder so the PCM can adjust to the new mods.
Leave your fuse out for 15 minutes, put it back in, drive sanely up the road 10 miles and back....then wail on it as usual...you'll probably get better results.

Thanks, maybe I'm not a R.D.A. after all, I have heard so much about it that I thought I'd try. Boy I wish I could call it all back. Yes my car is stock except the mopar CAI.

Well, I'll be the one guy swimming up stream. I don't know if it was the fuse trick or not, but last year at LX Nationals I drove my 08 R/T Charger to a number of 14.8-14.9 passes. I did the fuse trick and dropped my times by 0.2 secs - consistently. I drove home and back for day #2 and was back in the 14.8-14.9 range. Pulled the fuse again and was back in the 14.5-14.6 range. Again this was on my 08 Charger R/T.....perhaps the computers on the 09s+ don't care for the trick.

YMMV

Shark/All,

When I got my custom tune, I asked if I should do the fuse trick and was told NO. The performance is better with matured fuel trims... FWIW....

good advice from all, Iv'e had my battery disconnected several times with no adverse effects back on the road (the only reason people go for the #2 fuse is not to loose other presets in the cabin). One thing you may try that seems to be a positive every so often I do it is the TB calibration. try it, Ignition on engine not running cycle accelerator to floor and back to null three times within a 10 sec window, just like the oil change reset procedure) Works for my car and my injected MC's very nicely. good luck

Did you buy your car used or new? If used, maybe the previous owner had a tune done, thus pulling the fuse messed with it?

I pull the fuse for quick part throttle tuning.  I can reset the fuel trims and log STFT's, then see how much VE is off in certain cells.  It takes about twice to get fuel trims dialed in really close for closed loop.

I'm going to ask the stupid question. ...and I'm not trying to make you look dumb or anything.

After you pulled the fuse, what did you do with it?

The origional post didn't say anything about reinstalling it after a few minutes before cranking the engine. I pulled the fuse before I raced a couple of years ago and then I forgot to put it back in before cranking. I had to shut the engine off, re-insert the fuze and then crank it up to get it to run right.
