Uhhh...you are to add the sticker price of $34,185.00 plus the JK8 conversion price of $30,814.00 for a retail of $64,999.00.

So they are taking $16,000.00 off the price.

Makes it one of the most reasonable JK8's I've seen. For some reason, those things seem to be bringing crazy money. It'll go at that price.

Here is a thread that shows some of the work involved to do the conversion.  The kit is about $6k for parts only.  Not sure the labor/paint costs, but it looks to be extensive.

The things like the wheels, tires and 2" lift are small beans in comparison.

Nice rig...just not sure I could get there no the numbers myself.  I suspect many others are in the same boat, hence the reason it's still there and your GM is trying to move it.

There are 3 in Houston for that price...and have been for a couple of months now.

They didn't sell well at all and the dealers want them gone.

Its more than a few bolt ons. The frame is actually stretched to do the conversion. The body panels are all stamped steel. Its quite an intensive conversion. AEV is just a few miles from my house so I see these things all the time. They are really cool, especially with a hemi conversion ;-) Wish I could swing 50k. My old beater needs replacing!

Sorry about that...apparently I was on the computer too late.

Anyhow...link to the conversion thread showing the work:  http://www.jeepz.com...k8-project.html

Link to the conversion kit parts only (Mopar...sold by Quadratec):  http://www.quadratec...503_8000_07.htm

I just noticed the Quadratech site has the install instructions in PDF format and estimates 12-16 hours of install time.  I'm sure a pro can do it in that time frame, but I'd double that for a DIY project.  Either way, $30k - $6k (kit) = $24k for labor and the other misc minor add-ons.  Granted I don't have a newer style Jeep, but I had a TJ (previous body style) and doing a 4" lift took a few hours.  So that other stuff is a drop in the bucket.

Granted, the dealership has cut $16k.  If you take that straight off the $30k add-on package, that makes it about $14k for the JK8 conversion + misc parts & labor.  Dealership vudu math might have that as cost if they installed in-house.  Each department makes a profit on the other, or all the dealerships I know work that way.

Still they are trying to get full retail on the 2012 Jeep.  Blah.

Of course, I gather I'm probably about as much fun to a car dealer as Phil is.  I don't know Phil at all in-person, but I gather we share the common vision that we are never buying at the price they are asking.

well, truthfully , they had what they called a Jeep Gladiator pickup.

similar to this model, but it has a extended cab and a longer bed. not too liken the price, but I don't need all the bells and whistles either. yes the color is profugly, but all i would need is a bare bones vehicle.

You must never have bought a wrangler before. There is never rebates on a wrangler, they are sold at sticker. Our 2013 and 2014 wranglers are sold at sticker. That's just how wranglers are sold. Their are plenty of dealers that sell wranglers over sticker.

I've bought a Wrangler before.  I didn't pay sticker.  But I will agree, there isn't much wiggle room.  Local dealers here varied between $750 to $2,000 off sticker.  As much as I wanted to keep my business local, I ended up driving to KC to buy mine.  Better deal...less headaches...one of the EASIEST and FASTEST transactions I've done.  Literally 30-40 (combined) minutes of conversation on the phone and a few emails had all the details figured out.  Plus they had the EXACT model & features I wanted.  When I got there, they had it detailed and ready to go.  We went over everything and then spent 10 minutes in the finance office signing paper work (I brought my own financing/check to the table).  Within less than an hour of showing up, I was driving away in my new Jeep.  That was the longest ride ever back home...as I couldn't wait to show it to friends & family.

Not sure if they still do it or not, but if someone is really interested, it might be worthwhile to hit up the Jeep forums.  I did quite a bit of research before I bought and one of the guys on there gave me a friends & family code to make the savings a little better.   *ninja*

On the flip side....when you go to sell, they hold their value really well.  One of the better vehicles I've owned from a resell perspective.

Regardless....the vehicle may be new but has 2 years of depreciation (regardless how minor it might be) that it will take when the owner leaves the lot.  That makes it worth less than a new 2013 or 2014.

So are you saying the discounted price of $48k is firm....or negotiable?

48k is firm. And I'm sure you can turn this around and sell it for more. Especially since it's a jk8
