Agreed!
Not for nothing but this sounds a bit risky. I for one would not be interested in an unknown shop with unknown experience when it comes to building a modern Hemi that costs upwards of 10K.
Food for thought!

This guy is not a legit business.
Of course not. He said he was going to school and he's offering to gain experience for cheap.
He can't even speak proper English for fuck sake.
Apparently, neither can you!!

Maybe I misread his post but I don't think any reputable vendors are going to feel threatened by this.
If he starts posting prices and offering "professional" services then it would be a different story.
I just wish more young men and women would take up the machinist trade and be willing to do engine work.
I remember (barely ) starting out in the business world and it wasn't easy.
I give the guy an "A" for effort

Gotta have a thick skin for this forum! Congrats on school and willing to put it out there. I would suggest advertising lically first and get somewhat of a client base people can get references from. If you already have them, post that info and that you will provide them in an email. Good luck!

My point is that it takes away from the legit businessman when someone does shit "on the side".
In my business I deal with this shit everyday. Unlicensed and uninsured "contractors" low balling bids.
Just rubs me the wrong way, that's all.

One thing you will need to learn especially if you're going to throw posts like this out on random internet forums is that you will need some thicker skin. I actually think these guys were really "gentle" with you, even those that didn't appreciate your post.
I tried to compliment your efforts and so did a few others. I have never met you or have any idea of your actual experience. However, you did just show up out of nowhere in a pretty rowdy forum and offered to do machine work and even engine builds. Keep in mind that this is a forum where it not uncommon for many folks to spend 30-50k on a car and then 10k on an engine and rely on quality vendors with good reputations - what you did takes guts!
I give you credit for your efforts but in reality these guys went REALLY easy on you.
Keep at it though and don't get discouraged. Your efforts will pay off if you learn to do quality work.
May I make a suggestion that is in no way intended to offend you?
If you are looking for potential clients that are on a limited budget or more likely to take a risk with a relatively new machinist try to sell yourself slowly on a forum like hondatech.com. I would start slow because those guys can be brutal but you will probably find some folks on limited budgets willing to give you a shot. Not to mention the Honda engines are a dream to build, parts are everywhere, customers are everywhere and are very stout platforms.
Regardless of what approach you take - do quality work and keep your customers happy - always - and you will succeed.
Just my unsolicited advice.

If your a legit business, that does great and quality work. You won't loose business just because someone is cheaper. If it were me I'd pay you over any cheaper business, because I'd want good quality work at any cost as long as it's done right. That's just me, and I'm sure most guys on this forum are the same way. I'm sorry for offending you. And I plan on asking locally.
Let me get some more money together and I'll build a couple motors, and through them on the dyno. Then I'll show pics of the builds and vids of the dyno pulls.

You'll be wisest to move along at this time before you dig the hole any deeper. Many on here have good memories.
OST Mike and Builder Bill are spot on and should be respected for their points of view.
I agree that it takes balls to step up and I commend your efforts to go to school to learn a trade. I might suggest that when I was a tadpole as you are now I found a shop that would take me in so that I could really learn what is necessary. Not calling out your school here, but in all truth the best and deepest knowledge base is from seasoned reputable houses who have the inside understanding and depth that schools can only claim to have.
I'm sure if you're a good guy and you pound on enough doors long enough someone will take you under their wing. If it were me I'd be lying low and soaking up as much information as you can on this and other forums. I'd identify the shop, or builder who most inspired and fueled my ambition and I'd try and get into their favor. Maybe, if you're lucky they'll pick you up. Maybe without even realizing it, your goals will change and you will see it isn't always easy to reinvent the wheel.

It's a good school for engine machining. My question would be-is this work being done as a school project with proper supervision? We all have seen what happens with a machine shop that doesn't have experience with modern mopars. Most shops I have seen don't have the right equipment or even accurate equipment. Paying for other peoples' learning curve sucks.
