Yep, I pulled all from the passenger side actually and cleaned them and confirmed I could see light through them before re-install.

Well, I'm hesitant to post this for fear of jinxing myself, but I got off work early today and although cold, it was nice sunny weather. I haven't driven the Challenger since the last track outing due to this issue and I've been jonesing for some V8 goodness so I took it out this afternoon for a quick romp. I told myself to I'd take it easy leaving the driveway but 10 minutes in to the ride I had it sideways in 2nd at 6500 RPMs
Oh well. She ran beautifully but when I pulled in to the gas station to fill her up it was still ticking. I ran a few errands and did about 20 miles all told. I pulled in the garage when I got home and NO MORE TICK. I went inside and talked to Malena for a bit and it dawned on me that I didn't hear it pulling in, so I went back out and fired her up and let her idle for a bit and sure enough it's gone.
Now, I'm not one to take things like this as being fixed so I need to drive it another time or two to make sure the tick doesn't come back, but if my cheap fix worked it's something folks can try if they run in to the same issue. If it is fixed, either the lifter pumped back up on it's own, or the Seafoam I put in there did it's thing and driving it a bit was the ticket.
I'll still change the oil in the next 100 miles just for good measure, but if the tick doesn't come back I'll stick to the 10W40 I've been using instead of the 20W50 I had planned to try.
I'll update this weekend after I go for another drive.
I did go ahead and swap the plugs from CYL6 that were still green, although looked a lot better after today's drive, to CYL4 just for good measure. I'll cross check those as well after a few more miles to see how all of them look.

good news J, hope you're right and it's gone. I was thinking possible tapping on the pan gasket/windage tray since they a somewhat maliable? especially as close tolerances found while clearancing. I was told or read an article about internal oiling on the hemi engines and they are supposed to have smidge larger journals and drains to keep the oil flowing up and back to the pan. Think it was a Melling pump article concerning volume versus pressure and picking the proper spring for certain motors. good luck

Well, drove the car to work this morning and she's purring like a kitten. I don't think the engine has ever been this quiet. If anyone has HEMI tick, it may not be a bad idea to put a half a can of Seafoam in the crank case and drive it 100 miles or so before you change the oil. It just might help.

I bought my daughter a 2000 Chevy Malibu V6, had 32k miles on it. Problem there is all 32k was done from 2000 to 2009, then the car has sat up until I purchased. Over the next couple days it developed a clickity clack lifter/rocker arm tapping like crazy...loud loud. I pulled the top end down, poured Seafoam over all the lifters, blew air through all pushrods, buttoned it back up and started it. It clicked, tapped and pinged for a few minutes, then calmed down to sewing machine status. I let her run it for a 100 miles or so, then drained the oil and added 5w30 synthetic. Still running great! Seafoam is legit, works as advertised.

I had only used it as an intake cleaner in the past, and know it worked well for that, but this has really made me take notice of it for more than just intake cleaning. It's likely a kerosene type base as it felt oily on my hands, but has a very strong chemical smell to it so there are definitely some other ingredients in the bottle.

That was the plan until I could drive it some more miles. After driving it around today it's quiet as a mouse.
