Meth Injection On Forced Induction

From what I gather it's actually a safety feature.
Also wouldn't it make your cars tune more stable with temp changes? What do you guys think?

Do it and don't tune for it. There are other benefits, like cooling the intake charge, acting as a fuel if your a/f goes lean. Keeps your intake and motor clean and deposit free too.

Meth injection effectively raises the octane of what's in the cylinders and cools them as the water mist turns in to vapor, grabbing heat and flowing it out the exhaust. The meth being sprayed in to the combustion chamber richens the mix. So instead of having a 11.5 AFR you'd have a 10.5. To "tune" for it you'd lean the fuel out to get it back to 11.5. The problem comes if there is ever a failure in the system, the AFR suddenly becomes 12.5 and bye bye engine.
I agree with Stewart, it's a potentially nice to have if you're willing to monitor the system. There are some fail safes available in some kits that will open a solenoid (on the bypass perhaps) to remove boost if the system has any problems, but I'm with Harrison on the KISS.
Run a bit richer AFR in the summer (11.2 - 11.4) and a bit leaner in winter (11.6 - 11.8) and call it good. That's what I do on both my FI vehicles.

I know that water works, but it just seems wrong to spray water into the intake ![]()

You have to tune for it no matter what but you don't have to use the the full size nozzle your suppose to run. I'm using a smaller nozzle and Mike still has to tune for because it comes on so strong. I watch my afr all the time so I'm not to worried about it. If it helps keep the motor safe at 9lbs I'm all for it
9lbs
why not do 12lbs

There are around 30 + HP gains to be had if you tune for it and I don't. My solenoid can fail and my pistons won't do the hat dance.

We don't use meth on any of our builds. We use a quality intercooler instead. We don't like the idea of changing a tune to run it. What if the pump goes out like it did on a buddies Jeep. Bye bye engine. Too many variables to deal with. We like simple builds. They work better.
What kit was it that had the pump failure? Just curious, I dont doubt you, you're just the first guy I've seen that actually witnessed a pump failure first hand. I was worried about it too so I talked to Johan, he doesn't recommend tuning for it either, but has only seen failures due to people letting the tank run dry.
On another note there are people around here making huge #'s running 91 pump and pure meth in the system. One guy gained 100 whp on an ls. another is pushing 958whp. It works, just don't know if I'd tune for it unless you had a tune that was for track use only

If you go with a properly sized intercooler you don't have to worry about a $7.00 windshield washer pump going out...

As for tuning there is only really one qualified tuner and he comes from Jersey....

you still have tune for it or you will be fowling out plugs once a month with the rich AF. I don't understand the comment don't tune for it.
You can't spray shit in the car and not tune for it and expect it to run the same on the same tune.

I doubt you'd see the same gains at the track unless you added race fuel to the intercooler equation. I know snow performance has a big pump on their stage 3 and they warranty it for life. Have you ever seen one fail? I have one and I'd honestly like to know

If you're gonna use water meth you wouldn't even need race gas at the track. It's the equivalent of about 116 octane.
