Hey fellas,

Driving a 2014 Challenger R/T. My rear tires on my car are completely bald. I am currently running a 295/35-20 nitto invo on the rears which is about 28.1 inch tall. I'm on stock suspension & without lowering my car, I want to try n close the gap a bit with a thicker sidewall/taller wheel.

Im thinking of going a 295/40-20 which is 29.29" tall. Trying to see if I can go a littler taller. Reading online it looks like the tallest tire to fit ranges from 28"-31"; but nothing with a definitive answer.

Has anyone confirmed this or have any insight on the tallest tire to fit on stock suspension?

That's what I had on my ride. It fits an SRT lowered 3/4"

Should be just fine.
What wheels are those? Not sure with your offset but looks like it'd work.

As you go taller, you have less room for width.

I run 255/50R20 Yohomama Parada. It's 30.1 inches tall, but not very wide.

I did it to bring the highway RPM down with the 3.91 gears.

For running the Mile events I'm running a Yokohama Advant Sport 295/40/20 on the rear, they are advertised as being 29.4" tall but mounted on stock 2010 Alcoa's they actually measure right on 30". Tire's of the same size will vary from manufacture to manufacture, I had BFG KDW's, Continental DWS Extreme and the Yoko Adant Sports all side by side and there was a little over 3/4 difference in the overall diameter.

Now I would not recommend the Yoko Advant Sports, they suck for traction. Now for a street tire I love the Continental DWS Extreme's for over all performance.

Thanks for the input fellas. I went ahead and went with Toyo Proxies ST II - 295/40R20

Before:

After:

The nitto invos 295/35R20 stand at 28.1" tall compared to the Toyo proxies at 29.3" tall. I'm diggin em so far, no issues or rubbing. Like how much sidewall there is.

What is the speed rating on the Proxies ?

Never mind, just saw the 106V speed rating on the tire, 149mph.

From what I saw on part #244330, it said speed rating V. From my understanding that's good up to 140mph.

Nope. I drive like an old lady. No need to cram a wide tire on mine, so I go with what I know will fit without heating and beating.

Wasnt asking for you.... I was asking for my sled. lol

Ive got the294/40/20 on here now (29.29 dia / 11.61" width), but I'd give up some width to go taller with the 3.91 gear

255/50R20 Parada Spec X is 30.1 tall and 10.2 wide. Fits with no modifications and no rubbing.

275/45R20 Parada Spec X is 29.9 tall and 10.6 wide.

295/45R20 Parada Spec X is 30.6 tall and 11.6 wide.

Good luck.

FYI, running a 30" tire with 3.91 gears gives you the same highway cruising RPM as stock 28" tires and a 3.73 gear.

You like those Parada Spec X tires huh? I've never tried them... Faulken Azenis FK453 on now. Not bad. Better than the VRed's I used to have.

I need the Y rating 186+ of the Mile races. Not a lot available in the size tires we use.

I have some Hankook 295-45-20's stuffed into the back well's, No rubbing and ride nice on the magnum. This tire is a massive 30.5" tall for final drive ratio reduction.

Sure wish they made something that tall with a Y speed rating.

Hoosier a6

There's a 315/40-19 (A6 or R6) with a 12.9" section width (1.5" wider than stock, might fit ok), but it's diameter is 28.9

Quoted from some place on the inter web.

That tire would do.
