Just playing with the idea. Hope there would be an estimate of a used "take out" swap or junkyard find. Btw, any codes to look for to quickly ID an "lsd" unit...without 3.92's...too much gear for me. Thanks guys.

There is usually a tag on the Getrag on the drivers side on top, might need a mirror to read the tag from underneath. The tag will tell you the gear ratio.

Also if you are looking at a complete car, all auto SRT's have the 3.06 gears, manual SRT's have 3.91's. All R/T manuals with 18" rims have 3.73's and those with 20" rims have 3.91's. Note: the 2008 SRT's did not have a Getrag 226mm rear instead they have the 215mm rear with 3.06 gears (all were automatics).

The auto R/T's are all 215mm non LSD through I believe 2011. For the 2012 model year the auto's could option the Getrag with LSD but still get the 3.06 gears.

As for cost I've seen used LSD's with axles for around $900 give or take a bit. If you buy new it will set you back around $1,400 or $1,500 for the 3.91 set up (with axles) and around $1,800 or so for the 3.73's. I have no idea why the 3.73's are more expensive but when I researched this a while back they were no mater what parts dealer I checked.

Thanks! That's the info I needed...and then some.

I did some mph, gear calculations in OD...and I think the 3.20's area would be as far as I'd be willing to go. Maybe up to 2500 mph at 75mph, which is what I typically do.

I believe the 08 SRT has a open 3.06 differential.

You also have a Charger, so I beleive you have a different driveshaft than a challenger. What I would look for is a 215mm from an '09 or up, which will be an open diff, then get a quaife or wavetrac. The 215 rears have gear choices of 3.06, 3.23 or 3.55.

Dang, I always forget about the 08's lol, the 08 SRT's did not have a Getrag 226mm rear they had the 215mm rear and as Dale says 3.06 gears as they were all automatics. I'm going to fix that in my previous post so as to not cornfuse anyone.
