Hey everyone, figured I'd post this here since this forum seems to get the most traffic...but I have an issue with my 2010 Challenger SRT8. Car has less than 7000 miles on it and for some reason the ABS, ESP BAS, and Traction Control lights came on on the dash. They aren't blinking...just on. The car drives fine - brakes work, accelerates fine, idles fine, no limp mode or anything, etc...- so I cannot figure out why these lights are on.

They came on after I started driving for about 5 minutes or so...car drove fine so I just kept going from Baton Rouge to New Orleans and back...like I said, car ran like normal the entire trip. I even pulled over, turned the car off and on, and pulled the ABS fuses to no avail.

So, any ideas? Car is still under warranty, but if this is something I can fix really quick myself, then I would obviously prefer that route. This is my DD so I'd prefer not to have to skip work and/or school to sit around at a dealership all day.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Unfortunately no I cannot. I don't have a scan tool or tuner and this started this evening so no free Autozone/Advanced Auto diagnostics either.

Did you replace the battery or disconnect it? I know I had lights on ( cant recall if it was all of them) and it required a simple steering sensor recal. Center you wheel start the car. The the wheel full left then full right then back to center and shut it off.
Restart and go for a drive. Not sure if that's your issue but it's easy to try.

We actually did replace the battery maybe 5 to 6 months ago...so that could be it. I wanted to disconnect it to reset the PCM but, as luck would have, I have no tools with me. Thanks for the idea though, I'll give it a try. Hope it works because its pouring raining here right now.

Hi,

Did you try holding ESP button in, until the lights go off ? That shuts the system down, but then should reset when you start the car again. Hopefully the light will stay off.

I was just wondering if your car has a race tune or has been raced?

If so, then you probably would need to go for sure and get the codes cleared.

We had to with my car.

I think the ABS fuse of for the pump not sure if it covers the Proc or not. MrSquiggles also lights up when it goes onto limp mode. All the computers are linked so almost anything could cause different lights to light up. You really need to get the codes from the OBD2 connector.

Line lock really pisses it off as well. but the OP said he had no tuner/scanner so I am guessing he's stock. I would go by an AZ of such and just get it scanned.

Yeah, the car is completely stock...less than 7000 miles and has yet to see a stop light to stop light run much less a 1/4 mile track. I just called Ralph Sellers Chrysler Dodge Jeep and they said it could be an ABS sensor, which it very well could be. Guess it would be dumb of them to pull the wool over my eyes since it's covered by warranty anyway...

I'll probably swing by AZ on my way home today and have the codes read just so I'll know for sure. It should be fine to drive though right? Just have to be a little more careful? This car is my DD.

Will do. Autozone couldn't read the codes, apparently their scanner doesn't pick up ABS codes. Going to the dealership tomorrow at 10.

Problem solved. The right rear wheel speed sensor was bad. Took about an hour for them to repair at the dealership. Good to go now!

No tools needed to pull codes from a Dodge. Using the key, turn ignition to "on" position (do not start), bring back to off, on,off,on in less than 5 seconds and codes will show up on the odometer.

On-off-on-off-on trick has worked on Dodges since the mid 80s. My 85 omni eid this too.

Glad you got it solved, Zero. The light display sounds analogous to when I put my car in dyno mode - but that's on purpose - lol

So did my 84 laser, however back then it was the Check Engine light that flashed. There were only like 10 or 11 codes that were possible back then, and they were in the owner's manual if I remember right.

I've heard of the key trick, but I also heard it only worked for the R/T's? Hopefully I don't get any other codes again so I won't have to try this trick, lol.

I really need to start getting into some mods on this car though. I'm so tired of stock exhaust. Also, for anyone in Louisiana, I'm thinking about trying to go to No Problem on Saturday night. Cool weather should make for some better than normal at the time of year DA. I want to get a baseline on this car before I mess with it...even though my mod list is pretty short.

I think Saturday night is the local bracket racing night at No Problem. Wednesday nights are usually test and tune nights, just FYI.

This isn't the key trick. That has to do with traction control deactivation. This key sequence is for code checking.

Not near enough. It depends on how long Red Monster spends at Southern HotRod after I have broken him again
