Well there is a very extensive thread on the timing chain failure on CT. there was info that dodge was finally recognizing the possible problem . I contacted them based on that information.

 

I had upgraded my timing chain parts to the new parts listed as replacements while at Arrington. well Jill contacted me today ( Saturday)and asked for my receipts to be faxed to her for possible reimbursement . I did the upgrade cuz I can't stand any failure. it cost almost $500, but now I don't have any tune that goes into mds and I got the upgraded parts.

 

I'll see what they will do , and advise y'all when I get some info.

 

 It looks like they (dodge) might be ready to remedy the possibility  of failure.

 will post more next week or when I get feed back from Jill.

Hasn't this been the problem with Deb's car???

Did she get a new engine? I know the problem got fixed but I don't remember how it was resolved.

Don't remember, thinking she got a new engine or new short block, on or the other that was dealer installed under warranty.  May be totally wrong, its been a while.

yes, I believe Deb's problem with her 2nd engine was a MDS problem, it blew up while cruising 65 on the interstate. they have replaced it.  once I found out about her having that problem I turned the MDS off on my car.

I had mine turned off when the problems started alls good so far. I hope it stays that way since the lifetime power train is void now

Apparently a few on CT have emailed Pietro and are having the updated parts installed under warranty before any problems have presented themselves. Even someone that bought their '09 used was refunded his money for the parts he replaced once his let go.

I'm still chugging along at 114k with MDS still engaged..if the motor pops, maybe I'll get lucky and reciever a new long block

I solved the timing chain problem by upgrading to a 392, now all I have to worry about is crappy pistons .

Debbie just kinda dropped to me last November that she had just had the 2nd engine replaced at 80K miles, which was the longblock that had replaced the one that went out after CF3. She is now a bit worried as here extended warranty runs out at 100K. John aka DECEPTAJOHN, was told he only had 3/36 ( THINK he's 2nd owner), so he rebuilt it and had posted at our local LXbar, I tried to post pictures at CT on the thread, but in the end he joined and posted pictures, and contacted Pietro and was reimbursed for parts around $700, but he had to replace one head as the valve seat casting broke out/off on one valve. Cmchristo is yet another DFW owner who just got Chrysler to preemptively replace tensioner, shoe, and control solenoid if I remember correctly, which seems now to be maybe a contributing factor. I do know that Debs first replacement longblock was built before Chrysler updated the parts in late 2011-12 so we have our fingers crossed for her that this mill will hold together, as much as her/car have been through together don't see her ever letting go of it, never know though.

I just got a call from Jill (Chrysler) this morning. They are going to send me a check ($448)for the preemptive replacement of the timing chain at Arrington. and she forwarded my parts list to engineering to verify that I did everything necessary if I didn't they will schedule me to complete any remaining work.  Chrysler stepping up.

 

EDIT:Chrysler engineering called back this afternoon, the parts installed by Arrington were the correct and only parts needed.

That's pretty awesome Greg!  Took them a while to admit there was a problem but good for them to do the right thing!
