Barton Shifter has been revised and I installed the updated product today. The updated shifter helped the noise level tremendously and on a scale of 1 - 10 I would say the noise level is about a 3 vs. a 9 on the initial shifter.

This is definitely a worthwhile mod.. Barton's products are top notch and their customer service is outstanding!!

Did you have the Hurst previously?  Just curious how the two compare?  I'm guessing the Barton doesn't need Larry's mod to make it right?

It should be nice.  They had the last 10 years to come up with a design!

This shifter is very nice and with the modifications it pretty quite now. This shifter is built like a tank so you should not need any other modifications done to it.

I had the Hurst in my Camaro and I can say without a doubt the Barton shifter is better built and shifts out nice.

I just installed us1champ's old Hurst shifter, and I'm real happy with it. I can hear more transmission noise than stock, but of course that's expected. I'm curious to hear why you guys like the Barton unit over the Hurst. Or, what you didn't like about the Hurst that the Barton improves on.

Why is he lifting off the gas when he shifts?

I'll be installing mine this week, I'll let you know.

Just unpacked the Barton Shifter & all I can say is DAMN!!!!! The throw rod is Gigantic! The entire assembly is twice the weight & quality of the Hurst. No complaint thus far.

Throw rod thickness by comparison:

Barton rod, a smidge thicker than the width of a nickel.

Hurst Rod @ it's thinnest points "O ring seats" much smaller than a dime & small as a common magic marker.

Got the Barton shifter installed today, took it out for a short test drive & wouldn't you know, as soon as I pull out of my subdivision, a white Mustang 5.0 was merging into the lane next to me & decided he wanted a piece lol  Howie, all I can tell you is you'll want to get this shifter in your Yellow jacket asap! No more slop, nice solid shifts, virtually no noise @ all. 3rd & 4th are now straight up & straight back, no more feeling around for it.

Install was a breeze.
