Wtb 274 Comp Cam

Little off your main subject, but if I may ask why do you want a 274 in your 5.7? They are actually too big for that motor. I called Comp them selves and was told that they don't even recommend that cam for the 6.4-that their 270 would be a better match for that. So just a little food for thought maybe I can save you from some disappointment.

No dissapointment here, AJ got me squared away on my 6spd/274 comp cam and I've smoked my boy with the the same 5.7 but with a 270 cam during rolls.

Just got to find the right tuner, they're a PITA to tune out. But again AJ has me squared away and the cam pulls hard as shit with shift points at 6700. If it was to big, I would think comp cam would just say it's only for a 6.1 & up. But off the shelf it's worked great in my 5.7 '14 challenger once I found the right tuning. Gained me 50-60hp depending on day at the dyno.

Hmmm, not doubting you, glad it worked for ya. However I did call Comp Cams a few months back and spoke in depth with them about their 266, 270, 274. I'm only going by what they said. 274 was too much cam for a 392, "won't give the power you need down low, and the motor needs to rev high to make power". Another actual quote the dude threw out to me was, "bigger isn't always better". I'm no mechanic, so I have no choice but to listen to the pros. Would you happen to have a dyno sheet that shows the power/torque curve? I'd like to see at what point the motor starts to make power. Thanks man. Glad it worked out for ya.

Anytime, and yeah I've been told the same previously that its to big blah blah blah, but it's always followed up w spec'ing out a custom cam through a shop that is giving that advice vs. even offering a 270. Can only go by what I've experienced and tested against a buddy that has the same N/A mods except a 270 not 274.

No dyno sheets of AJ's tune yet. Gotta finish up my business trip in Vegas, get back and install my transmission. I know I've posted dyno sheets up (of improper tuned, but still good power) plenty of times for people questioning the same as you, especially on that wack ass challengertalk site. It's almost how some were so stuck on saying a 392 couldn't and would NEVER touch 500rwhp on stock heads, just never was stuck on other people's talk vs. what I wanted to try regardless of what was said and it's worked good for me finally w the right tuning....I'll see if I can find some time to search for em. If not, I'll have to wait for the dyno that will show N/A and the 150 direct port shot+274 cam.

This 274 cam tuning on this 392 '15 is pretty interesting. Seems to be under the same concept of, it's all in the tuning but won't catch me saying it's to big or to much cam . lol.
