Mini Coop R53 S Advise

Ok, I know there has got to be a couple guys here who know something about these motorized roller skates. The boychild is thinking about trading his 98 Silverado mall crawler for a 02 one that looks to be in nice shape. Of course it's got all your standard bolt on crap like headers, exhaust and 17% pulley....bla, bla, bla..

So I figure it's just about as wore out as his truck is, fair trade right? :P

So any input. I figure I'll prolly have to build a motor, trans and do the suspension. But it should make for a fun cone chaser at some point.

Thanks.

They seem to be OK, but pricey to fix and maintain. If he wants to chase cones, I would take a a WRX any day. Driving a small, slow car fast is a blast. We loved our Abarth. It was not the fastest car on the track for HPDE, but I doubt anyone was having more fun.

Yup, ole Donald will be doing that when my boy crawls out of a mini. He's a big ass kid

Your probably 100% on the mark chuck. If it wasn't for being a trade I know the kid would much rather have a WRX. But after pricing some goodies last night, we'll be able to build something fun if this goes down. :)
