So what do you 6 speed guys recommend for a clutch? Spec makes a few different ones. I for sure cooked mine at CF3. Chatter is mostly gone but I can always smell the clutch when I get on the car and it still smells in the garage when I park the car. Don't even want to waste my time at the strip with the stock clutch. Also, who do you buy thru?

You were unfortunately right Mike

I had a spec p trim before I went auto. It's now in ironchallenger's car. I thought it was pretty easy to drive around town. Got it from Arrington.

I like the SPEC also, got the SS multi plate 900T w/alum flywheel. As per original post, I know now my Tremec is fine fluid is good works like butta etc etc. The clutch has taken a powder of sorts, lucky for me driveable no problem. This will be taken apart and inspected replaced or repaired during upcoming planned upgrade visit.

The reviews on Spec's website for their clutches are brutal. Kind of a concern now. Hmmmmm

Cool, I am going to order the Spec SS. Seems like Challengers running this clutch are working well.

If you wamt to shoot me a PM with your best price found before you pull the trigger I may be able to save you a few bux. After recpt of mine and comparing weights with stocker I sent the flywheel back in for lightening. My gut tells me they are designed for 3 passengers, baggage and full saddles. That is not how most of us roll. I figure mine spins easy enough now and more RPM's are available if need be launch wise. Acceleration once hooked will certainly be better and less weight up front is another small benny. May wish I didn't but what the hey, learning what works and doesn't is a lot of what we all do here.

Dodgetime, mine has done the exact same thing you describe a few times at the track. However, only does it if I hot lap the car. If I give 30 mins between runs it's fine and I'm on the stock clutch. I thought for sure I'd beat it up enough and it needed replacing, but so far it's just kept on keeping on. Again, it's the STOCK clutch in the car.

At CF3 I was spinning slicks on the launch, and my buddy says the clutch is A OK from watching it launch. Sounds like you may just be overheating either the clutch, fluid, or clutch master cyl. Try giving a few mins to let it cool and see how it does.

I've got 50-60 runs on the car now, and every single one of them has been at or above 550RWHP. 95% of those runs was on DRs and since I don't have a line lock I'm putting extra stress on the clutch holding the brakes for the burnout.

I'd go SPEC SS-trim. It's plenty and it's what I run putting down a reasonable amount of mojo at the rear wheel. Another option I'm hearing good things about is McLeod. Apparently smooth as butter and now available for our rides. I can't speak to them personally, though.

Y'all convinced me (heck if it works on your 10 sec ride should work great for my slow poke). Ordered the Spec SS today. I also got the line lock system from Alan so no more fuckin around two footing it at the line. I know that is how I fucked up my stock clutch and I also think that with slicks you stress out the clutch way more than with DR's (hear that Speedy). Now I got to pull the tranny this weekend oh joy oh joy.

Yeah, I'm gonna get a line lock as soon as my wallet recovers from the slick and skinny package I just purchased.

i have the Spec p, originally Lakeys clutch, and its been taking some heavy abuse, 620+hp and 600+ lbft all day long.

Sam let me move his car at CF3 and the SS trim is AMAZINGLY easy to drive compared to the p trim.

go for the ss trim, its more than youll ever need.

Absolutely, was the best purchase I ever made. Not only is it a piece of work to work on the car but I get to store a car under the one on the lift,

Cool Craig....code is still active I assume ? No need for MMFers to pay in the teens of hundreds for one of these.
