Magnetic Front Plate

Do you have something inside/behind the grille in the lower fascia that helps hold it in place?

It looks good -- I wish I'd thought to tell the dealer not to drill mine, the plate mount it was already drilled and attached when I picked up the car.

Yes there is a metal inner bumper above that lower grill. I made some aluminum clamps to grip that structure. Then I bolted blocks of plastic to the aluminum clamps to recieve the two metal pins you can see at the back of the plate. Then I mounted magnets inside the plastic blocks and when you insert the plate the magnets contact the metal pins and hold the plate up against the grill.

Sorry I didn't take pictures of that assembly, I was working hard to get everything done so I could see if it worked. It seems really solid and don't think I will have any problems. I neeed to take it back apart to take measurements so I can make a drawing in case I have to make any more. I will take more pictures and post them at that time. The only problem with installing this is you have to remove the two lower belly pans to get access to the lower grill area.

Thanks! I have not had any problems with it and it is great to be able to just pull it off when you are washing the car.

I still haven't had time to pull it apart and take pictures. I will try and get it done soon.
