Cf5 Last Minute Thrashing Stories - Post Yours Up

54 posts in this topic

I suspect there's at least a few of you out there trying your best to make it. It seems before every event we go to we are always pushing it right up to the time we put a car we are taking on the trailer to leave. Sometimes we even end up finishing last minute items at the events.....

We still have some work to get the Jeep ready but fortunately most of the stuff is relatively minor like:

- Get the boost control hooked up and adjusted

- Minor wiring and breather plumbing

- Get the Jeep back on the dyno for a final tune

- Get the trailer registered, inspected and maybe some new tires

Pretty easy stuff this time.

So who is scrambling to get ready? Tell us your story.

Just got my blower on last weekend, spent a week trying to get it tuned with a clogged vacuum line, broke the nipple off the intake manifold, Pablo Picasoed that bitch back together, and now I'm trying to get it tuned via email. Having 500+ hp without being able to use it blows! (punnnnn!)

I'm bringing the Texas dust to Kentucky! I backed the trailer in the driveway after Texas and the car still sits strapped to it and kinda ready to go. Of course after driving 500+ miles in the rain it's pretty dirty, but there's supposed to be rain Thursday for the drive up anyway so it's stay that way. I just have to tilt the trailer down to let Lisa fill the car with her many boxes of stuff and load the tires and the truck.

I did my thrashing before the mile when we drove the car off the SHR dyno, on to the trailer and hit the interstate right from SHR.

Rebuilt the rear end, finished install yesterday. Still have wiring for line lock, shift light and pre-wiring for 2 step to finish. Will finish up tomorrow night. Real work starts when I get back!

Great stories! Keep them coming.

Guy, the 2 step is a breeze to wire up. Micah did it in short order and it looks stock. He de-pinned the appropriate coil wire from each plug and soldered/heat shrunk it in. Assuming you are doing a Stage6?

To do list before I leave on Friday:

Replace thermostat and change oil in the Magnum.

Finish building the trailer I will be towing behind the Magnum (weld on tailgate hinges, latches, & light brackets... paint it.... wire the whole thing... install deck and side panels.)

And just this morning, the ESP/BAS light popped on... need to see what's up with that.

The under hood wiring is done, and it was easy. Just doing a lot of pre work for the new shifter, switch, Trans brake so when I get back all I have left is all of the heavy work. Wiring and controls will be ready to go.

Already changed plugs and oil. Need to get tranny break and 2 step tested with boost controller, reinstall exhaust, install seats, rejet direct port, get new DRs mounted, and a partridge in a pear tree

just placed an order with Summitt that Bobbi will be picking up for me when they stop there on Thursday, I still have to get my tires out of store and take the back seat out as they will be in that space for travel. My son gets to the house Wednesday evening and load the rest of the stuff up then and head out Thursday morning about 5:30

Where are you coming from? We are planning on getting the Jeep on the trailer Wednesday night, loading the truck and leaving first light Thursday as well.

Clean and wax the Mistress. Take out the rear seat. Load the rear wheels with slicks and the the skinnies, the hi flow cats I sold. And see if the new aluminum jack I brought will fit!!

I'll have a jack and impact wrench you can use. The guys that trailer bring lots of stuff and we are happy to share. Not really much reason to have to stuff some of the stuff in your cars. Only take a few minutes to throw two tires on.

Thanks I know you let me borrow your stuff last year. I just hate to impose on you again. But I might have to take you up on it. Because the wife is coming along this year, and you know how women like to pack for trips!! lol

Mike are you joining the Ohio caravan ?

I have to charge my battery. I tried starting it and it's dead

Also wanted to put my new rims on but I don't think that will happen.

Check out AutoZone. They have one of their Duralast Platinum AGM batteries that fits and is great. I don't normally care for somewhat generic batteries, but I've had great success with this one.

Mike, I am coming from Louisiana, already talked to Bobbi about their stop at Summitt Thursday morning, so she is picking up an order for me.
