Symptoms Of A Cracked Flexplate

32 posts in this topic

Oh no, what I meant was with the heads off I tried at 40lbs but still wasn't able to spin it. Earlier today I tried 60lbs and still no go, didn't want risk any more damage so didn't want to go any higher.

Before taking the motor apart, sounded like a bad starter but wouldn't turn over then all off a sudden heard some type of heavy metal on metal grinding then shut her off.

Well you're not gonna hurt anything worse at this point turning it over by hand. Just do what you need to do in order to remove the tc bolts. There's still a chance it ain'tthe short block .

You can't twist the crank like that, that's from when you pulled the pulley and it twisted as you got towards the last of it. Try it backwards now that the bolt is tight.

Andy, when you removed the crank bolt was it by hand or a impact. If by hand do you remember if the crank turned?. I honestly don't think you could have a bearing so wiped out that you wouldn't be able to budge it with that big of a bar. If she turns counter clockwise even just a little it's gotta be something in the bell housing that's got it in a bind. If that's the case stop before you go any further and let me know. I'll pm u my number, call me in the morning.
