Rear Sub-Frame Bolt...

Started the rear brake teardown tonight, and I got all of the suspension links and brackets off to install HHP's endlink and bushing kit, except the driver's side toe link bolt that attaches it to the sub-frame. The bolt can't back out because the spare tire well blocks it. Is the only way to get it out is to drop the sub-frame?

How necessary is it to change that bushing? I've heard horror stories about dropping the sub-frame. Is it that bad of a job, or would it be worth it just for the inner bushing? If I don't end up changing that inner bushing, I would leave the stock inner bushing on the passenger side as well.

Dude, you're not supposed to be tearing shit apart with less than 30 days to go before CF7. Haven't you heard of Speedy's Rule #1?

Howie, unfortunately we won't make it this year. We just moved down to Texas at the end of last year, and I've yet to get the transmission rebuilt. Still can't flat foot shift, and with the new tire setup, I'm sure either the driveshaft will let go, or the transmission will get smoked.

I'd cut the bolt and buy new. Just install it back opposite.

Not a bad idea. It's a crazily formed bolt that works like an eccentric adjustment, so I'd have to verify that it would work backwards.

ummm have you tried, remove the exhaust, unbolt rear shocks and swaybar and drop the subframe down on that side? Did it a hundred times helping R&D HopNot. Never had an alignment problem afterwards...drop that side down and you might find you have enough clearance.

I had a good ol' time using a ball joint press to do the bushing work, only to find out I needed to take it all back apart and grind down the end to make the wheels fit. Never doing bushings again without a shop press.

the kit from josh has the bushings already cut down. They did 5 years ago at least.

Yeah, but the linkage that they get pressed into that came on the car were 1" wide... Didn't see the note at the bottom of the page saying if they're 1" wide, they'll need to be ground down to .600". Guess I'll read all of the instructions completely before I start the next project. lol
