Shelf Life For Slicks/drs

What do you guys find is a decent shelf life for tires? My Hoosiers are over 4 years old though only 40 or so passes. I've heard that after 18 months or so they lose much of their grip. Curious what the consensus here is?

Been thinking of this lately as well. Mine are probably 5 years old with maybe 100 passes, but still good tread left. They always hook too, but I probably should replace them soon.

There are a few variables Chuck, some guys get 30- 40 pass's before the Hp starts to break down the side walls? extreme HP cars, we get about a season out of ours but that works out to about 80-100 pass's on the Hellcats, dedicated to the track only, don't let a old tires ruin a day at the track trying to guess what to do when it may be the tires.

Yeah, I already ordered a replacement set. Just trying to figure out whether to keep the old ones or if someone might get some use of them. I've also read that as long as they haven't been roughed up they will last several years, but onepce heatEd up they will start getting hard.

Mine are 4 years old and were still getting it done for me last season. I store them at 5psi in doors though. I'm like Kevin and will just watch for dry rot and cracking, or they start to not give me 1.6 60's anymore I'll know what's up.

Most will be fine if not stored in direct light. UV is what tears them up.

A slower car(auto) that doesn't hit the tire very hard can use the older slicks to recover a bit of the expense of replacing them.

I'd be interested if you wanna offload them Chuck......I've got 17 x 9 wheels. What size are yours? My ZIP is 87110. If they will fit my wheels PM me with a price for them with shipping if you want to sell them
