Adanac Charger

Rented A Camaro Ss

I was in Palm Beach, FL for the past week and reserved a mid-size car through Budget. When I arrived at their counter and asked what kind of car I was getting, they gave me a choice between a Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra. WTF??

I gave them a hard time about not thinking that these were 'mid size' cars and the lady behind the counter says that they have a special on the Chevrolet Camaro for an extra $10 a day. Sold! :)

I take the shuttle to parking spot I10 and find a black Camaro SS with 6.2 liter, heads up display, paddle shifters, Pirelli P-Zero tires, etc. I recall that this thing has 426Hp and I'm grinning from ear to ear.

On the way to the hotel I was WOT about 6 or 8 times and my wife says to me from the passenger seat, "too bad it didn't have the 8 in it". She thought it was a V6. lol

I love my Charger.

Anyway, it was a fun car to beat the shit out of for a week, but it did feel a little sluggish.

If it was a auto (paddle shifters) then it is only rated at 400hp/410tq VS the manual at 426hp/420tq. Regardless I'm sure it was ten times better then a Toyota Corolla or Hyundai Elantra, haha!

I wonder if they detune the rentals?

I rented a Hertz Corvette a few years ago in Denver while on a "business" trip, it was fun car to drive, but I could barely turn the tires from a stop even with traction control disabled.

I beat the shit out of rentals. I used to drive in reverse and dump it in drive and neutral drops. Oh those were the days. The camaro woulda came back needing tires if I had it

I have never driven one, but today, I saw one get absolutely smoked by a 4 door station wagon and the wagon let him get the jump. After the first second, it was sort of hard to get a clear view of him.

Camaros are jokes, go to camaro 5 all the fastest ones only run high 9s

then that forum is a joke. Many are in the 8s and a few in the 7s. Try not to believe an ls based chevy is not gonna get seriously fast with all the aftermarket support they have vs us.

The GM auto trans sucked.... and I guess that's why they had to detune for it. Our NAG1 could be a lot better than it is with full TCM control, but it is pretty decent when modded. I like mine.

With traction control off, it would barely spin them without using the brakes at a standstill. I got pretty good at it. lol

Elevation?

About +5' at the beach

:)

... out your rearview! :)
