Whipple Sc Install

139 posts in this topic

Thanks to AJ for getting me the awesome deal on the 2.9 Whipple SC. I will be installing it with the help of my good friend Rich. I ordered the Whipple, fuel pump,90 LB injectors, ATI 17% Overdrive, and a set of ARH headers with cats. Had to get the cats because of the emissions here. For now we are going to keep it at 8-9 Psi due to me not being able to upgrade the tranny right now. Couldn't blow the budget because my son is getting married in three weeks. Anyways I will start the install on Thursday and have allotted three days for the install. Not going to rush it. Hopefully it will go smoothly if not I will be on here looking for help.???? Can't wait, it's been hard staring at the parts pile for a while week!!

jettech104, I've recently installed a 2.9L Whipple on my 6.1L. Not sure what size engine you are running but with my stock 6.1L, a stock crank pulley and a 3.375 inch blower pulley, I'm running 8.7 pounds of boost consistantly in 80-85 degree outside air temperature. I do not think I can physically put a larger blower pulley on.

Sweet. Lots of pics man. I love this blower and have considered upgrading my Maggie to one several times.

I don't think I'm the only one waiting on you to do this Speedy. You won't be disappointed. Don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Made great progress for 1.5 hours worth of work. Got a real late start so we decide to just get some of the disassembly done tonight and start fresh in the morning. Here are some pics.

I have run into a problem installing the Whipple pulley bracket and pulleys/idler. One idler pulley will not line up. The bracket sits too far forward with the spacers sent by Whipple. So last night we milled out the .460 out of the two spacers for the bottom but this one spacer on the top needs to go to a machine shop to get milled Or wait for Whipple to send me the correct one. For now we mocked it with homemade spacers and washers stacked on one of the holes. Also figured out that due to the 17% OD the belt K061145 is too short. Will need a K061117 belt. Oh the struggles of a build????
