Yours Is Not The Only Car At The Track, Don't Be A Dick!

27 posts in this topic

Joke right?

Videoing from 40+' away surprised i didn't see more people walk through and expecting everyone to wait for your run so they dont get in the way of your video makes me think about the title "Yours Is Not The Only Car At The Track"

Only problem i have is the distance he was to the car I hate when people walk up behind my car when staging.

There's 8 Youtube genius's who think they're the next Martin Scorsese videoing at any moderately popular track these days.

Are we supposed to

clear the deck for all

of them now?

And there are amateurs like my wife who is videoing the launch to give me something to evaluate.

Not for everyone videoing, for the car that is staging, get off the track until they take off. I've had people walk in front of me as I start my burnout for Christ sake! That is the track not keeping these people clear, and this time too they should have said something to this guy. What if there was something under one of my tires and I spun at the light? It's safety as well as courtesy.

Nope, not a joke. I think it's kind of rude when you see someone plainly standing there with a camera and you walk in front of them when there is space to walk behind them. These people who are not doing anything should be up in the stands to watch anyway. Problem is the tracks are allowing this because they want their money, and they watch the same shows these people do where huge entourages are standing all over the track when their buddy takes off. There have already been cases where fans pretending to be crew have been injured by debris during burnouts. Tracks will find out when these people start suing.

Nice run!

Thanks! Changed slick sizes and I need to adjust suspension/shocks/tire pressure. Still not there, as you can see it bounces 4 or 5 times after it leaves. Whaddya think: more tire pressure? Loosen shocks?

Will be in high 9's this fall if it leaves right. No power adders, it's all motor.

Not sure, couldn't see what the tire was doing with that guy in the way. lol

Haha, but you already know you're leaving some on the table with it loading and unloading. It looks like it transfers fine but the rebound is blowing you right back up. I'd start there. If you can't get enough adjustment to slow the rebound, I'd go to a softer spring with more adjustment on the compression. Might have missed it but what shock and spring are you running?

I was always taught that cars had right-of-way on race tracks. This might be someone with the forum, I don't know. But this is from one of my runs.

Who needs someone directing them into the fucking waterbox? Really you need someone to wave their hands at you to tell you where the fucking water box is? Get the fuck off the track IMO. I can see a track employee telling cars where THEY WANT you stop in the water box, but I also get tired of every idiot thinking they race for Don Schumacher and need 5 fucking hand wavers at the starting line with them. Your wife shoudl of yelled at the dude "get the fuck out of my video you son of a bitch" and problem solved. I bet he didnt even see her.

Standard V8 A body springs with Calverts 9 way adjustable shocks. I can adjust the shocks and the tire pressure. I'm thinkin 11 1/4 lbs is too low and is makin it bounce.

I've learned, over the years, to work around people when taking photos and not let them bother me too much. I do recognize that sometimes a "great" shot becomes a worthless shot because someone wanted to be in the picture. That's just the way it goes. At CF6 there was a guy in the spectator stands with a neon shirt that seemed to always move whenever I moved so that he would always be in the background. I ritualistically remove people like that using Photoshop, sort of like an electronic voodoo doll :)

Taking a week in California to do some shooting and believe me, some people in the tourist areas are 10x worse than anyone at the track.

Safety is one thing, but how you expected that guy to know your wife was attempting to take a vid for technically use later, from 40' away, is beyond a realistic expectation.

Now if the guy knew and said fuck it, I'm standing in the way, that's another story.

Like I stated, there's 8+ people at any moderately busy track recording EVERY run with a phone. Can't keep track of them all.

I'm not the one to ask about track set ups sorry

That was Jimmie from True Street Performance. He did an exceptional job getting most of the event recorded for everyone at home that couldn't make it. Doesn't look like you were held up much since the cleanup crew was still mopping while you were rushing up.

I'm w/ BlueBlur. No one needs guidance into a water spot. Now I understand if the mustang was burning out past the staging line AND THEN needed someone to re-align/reverse him back into the groove. Other than that he should have just stayed in the middle starting line box and recorded/watched from there.
