Which Supercharger And Tune For Stock 5.7

I currently have a 2010 challenger 5.7 with cai and intune. My winter project is to put a blower on the car. My concern is what to use. Procharger ,Kenne belle, magnusun, elderbrock, all look good but which is best for a stock block and heads? This is for weekend driving only and for looks when you open the hood. I have talked to different people,Speedy being one of them and he suggest Magnusun with your tune. Is that my best hp and sound for the money? I like the blower whine at idle and that is important to me.The tune for a vortech seems to be an issue for people. Could you please give me advice on this situation and give some ballpark figures on the different types? Thanks, Tony Murfreesboro tn

first off welcome.,

the magnacharger is a quiet blower, so there wont be much sound, but overall reliability and power.... you cant beat it...

Check the link below. You'll find that there are numerous opinions on the "best" supercharger.

After researching this issue myself, I decided that the Magna Charger was the best option for me. I'm not concerned about hearing the blower spin up. Mine is for rodding around town and not a racer.

I was the one that started that thread and would recommend you read it. The short and sweet I gathered is everyone is partial to "what is best" and for the most part they put out real similar numbers/performance. Basically choose the one you like the looks of best and that your PREFERRED shop will install for you. Also, KNOW WHERE YOU WANT YOUR BUILD TO GO IN THE LONG TERM.

I think you see a lot of references to the Maggies, because they are reliable, have a good tune and Arrington (many believe they are the kings of Hemi performance) push them. Overall, from what I've seen they are a great product for the majority of people. The only downside I've seen is they are one of the "smaller" blowers out there, so on larger engines (426, etc) they have to work harder to do the same thing and IMO it starts to become an efficiency issue. Granted, some guys still run them on their 426's, but I don't think too many guys recommend that setup. So knowing where you want your build to go in the future is critical.

Lastly, think about positive displacement (Maggies, Kenne Belle, etc) vs centrifugal (Vortech, Procharger, etc) blowers. While they both give you big boosts in power, they do it in a different manner. Here are a few more links that may better describe the difference.

I had already made up my mind I wanted a PD blower, mainly for the looks, but also because I preferred the way it makes power. That is NOT to knock a centrifugal as lots of guys are making BIG power with those and doing very well.

Good luck with this. Definitely take some time to read up and learn about what you want/need. Will you self install? FYI, earlier today I noticed Speedlogix (vendor here on the site) stated they were doing a sale on their Vortech units. You had to email or call them to get the special discount.

Last, but not least, welcome to the forum. While the forum can be "crude" compared to others, it is filled with serious motorheads that have a wealth of information. Plus they are a good bunch of guys (and gals).

Hello. I have been at Arrington for over 2 years......about the time the 2300 came to market. I have sold more Magnuson blowers for daily driver cars than any other brand of super charger COMBINED! You just can`t beat them for a daily driver and the performance is there when you need it or want it. Give me a call if you have any other questions

I really appreciate all the responses from everyone. This information will be very helpful in making my decision. Whish by the way seems to be leaning towards magnusun. I think this forum has a lot more knowledge than the others i have looked at. Glad to be a part of it. Thanks again, Tony

Welcome to the forum. Another Maggie fan here. Have about 5,000 miles on mine with no issues. Don't really hear it at idle, only under boost.

Post #7 by nolimits76 is a good place to start making your decisions from.

You won't hear the whine at idle but he bling of a PD blower sitting right on top of the block is hard to beat.

Don will take good care of you at Arrington. Give him a ring.

Magnuson on my daily driver as well, and very happy with it. The blower is very quiet at idle. The only time you really hear it is when you're more aggressive on the throttle. AJ has the tuning down to a science with the Maggie as well. You can't go wrong with Arrington and the Maggie!

I installed one of the first DIY Magnusson kits for the 5.7 two years ago when it came out, and it been performing flawlessly. I've since increased boost to 8 psi and took it to the track a zillion times. Not the biggest power maker on the big engines, for for a stock or mild car, it is awesome.

I had a lot of work done with mine, cam, long tubes, heads. The idle is fricking incredible, but I don't hear the blower much at all except under acceleration.

Got any videos of it. I would love to hear it idling followed by a massive burnout. :D
