Some History
My name is Mike and together with my son's Micah and Miles we operate our chassis dyno business called “Outlaw Street Tuners”. I am a long time Mopar fan, purchasing my first GTX in 1976. I “cut my teeth” in the racing world on the mean streets of Pittsburgh, Pa. which is still known for producing many of the fastest “street” cars in the country (i.e. Hot Rod Pump Gas Drags, Drag Week, FSC etc.). I was active in the drag racing scene in the 1970's and 1980's and won my first national event in 1978.

In the late 70's I began experimenting with N20 and customizing Holley carbs. In the mid 80's my wife and I moved to Southern Ca. and hit the street and drag racing scene as well as working with the folks at Nitrous Oxide Systems wrenching on one of the shop cars. I took a break from racing in the 1990's to settle down and start a family.

After about a 10 year break from racing, I hit the racing scene and quickly came to realize how much the industry had changed. Fuel injection, turbo's, superchargers and engine management systems (EMS) were now “the winning technology”. Although many of my former racing friends refused to give up on carbs and N2O, I opted to take the plunge into “the new world”.

I realized that it was going to a lot more than the old school method of “Street and Track testing” to learn this new tech. So I purchased an EFI car and then discovered that no local shops would rent me large chunks of dyno time (which I felt were necessary to educate myself). At this point I was totally committed to this effort and decided to purchase what I felt was the best tuning dyno available at the time and start OST. We settled on a Mustang IMP-SE capable of measuring up to 2500 rwhp and able to apply up to a 600hp load.

Word of our tuning service spread quickly and the business has grown beyond anything we anticipated. We began specializing in tuning big single and twin turbo engines. Our tuning business also attracted local bracket racers. These folks quickly realized that with just a few hours of tuning we were able to shave several tenths off of their 1/4 mile times. The bracket racers were followed by the road racers and then the circle track drivers, all of them realizing the benefits of custom tuning to dial in a car before a points event. As we've grown, we acquired professional EFI training and attended Greg Banish's Engine Management class.

My love has always been in the Mopar camp and the Gen III Hemi's intrigued me. One of my customers and former “old school” Mopar racer purchased and SRT8 and wanted to know what I could do to improve performance in his daily driver. His interest as well as many customer calls for Gen III Hemi tuning convinced me to acquire a Diablosport CMR Dealer license. Again, word spread quickly on the local level and I began tuning many local N/A and supercharged Gen III's.
After joining LX Forums, I saw a post from a member wondering why his fueling was acting strange. I looked over his tune, fixed the issue, and business continued to build from there. I've had the opportunity to tune for many Gen III Hemi racers, including Kent Irwin, Nick Mendolia, John Burleson, Phil Nichols, Jim McClure, Jason Coleman and others as well as some quick Challengers and Jeeps.

We have also been blessed with the opportunity to regularly tune remotely (via the internet) for shops in Southern Pa., North Carolina, Texas, Nevada, Manitoba, Ontario, Illinois and Birmingham, Ala.

Several of the cars OST has modified and tuned have been featured in Hot Rod magazine, SpeedTV's "Battle of the Super Cars, Chrysler Power magazine, Street Machine magazine, and Popular Cars magazine. We have also expanded the business into tuning vehicles for Land Speed Racing and would love the opportunity to assist someone with a Gen III Hemi to set some speed records.

New Products
Engine Management - This summer we will be releasing an in house designed and tested “Plug and Play” Engine Management System and cable driven throttle body that will allow any Mopar enthusiast to swap a 5.7, 6.1 or 6.4 L into an "old school" vehicle of their choice.

Transmission Control- We also just completed the testing of a complete electronic transmission control system (see the latest issue of Chrysler Power Magazine) designed to convert any “old school” Torqueflite 727 or 904 transmission into electronic shift. The system is a complete TMS (transmission management system) that includes a TMC Racing custom billet valve body, transbrake and fully customizable controller.

This is great - an experienced Mopar dyno-tuner with a resume of well-known customers who isn't a 10-12 hr drive away for me. May get that race gas tune yet. :)

BTW, great deal for the Trinity/tune package if somebody was looking to buy a Trinity.

Hey Mike, have you guys run across any issues with weird throttles? Dodge released a TSB a while back and it seems it was for a PCM update and it introduced some weird lag with the throttle. I got bit by it when I updated from a Predator to a Trinity. When the Trinity updated my PCM so it would marry, it introduced that new code to my car. AJ's been working on a solution for a couple months, but was curious if you'd seen it on your side.

You step on the throttle and it literally waits almost a second before the engine reacts. Dodge claims it was for drivability when customers complained.

Here's my thread on it so as not to get too far off topic in this one: http://modernmoparforum.com/topic/4167-challenger-throttle-lag-issue/

I mention it only in the event you come across it you'll know what it is. AJ ended up sending me a second PCM with my old Predator CAL in it so I could go back to where I was until he figures it out.

Haha, man you have no idea how glad I was to get that 2nd PCM from AJ. That's when I was REALLY interested in a Mustang and was test driving the GT500s. It sucked driving this thing with that updated PCM code in the car.

Speaking from experience, Mike is one of the top tuners out there.

He was able to send me e-mail tunes for everything that I did to my Challenger.

Mike will take the time to make sure everything is just right.

He even showed up at the track and made adjustments to my tune between runs.

Once I got it on the dyno, he squeezed a little more out of it.

Glad to see you here Mike.

Brad
