Factory 392 Build (How Far Can We Take It?)

124 posts in this topic

have fun, Jim. Run as good a fuel as you can, and I'd definitely be datalogging any track runs to watch your knock especially if you're running a stock bottom. Something I'd be considering is a water/meth kit. Seriously. Run it properly with that 104 octane and you'll have octane coming out your tuckus. It'll help cool things as well. Even with me going TT's and having to part with the LMI custom CAI with the dual ports for the water/meth, I'll have the intake tube tapped for two nozzles. I'm keeping my water/meth setup. It's boost reference and I dig it.

"The game is afoot". Arrington is supposed to pick my car up on July 14th with the build taking approx 2 weeks. I'm doing everything on the build sheet posted earlier in this thread with the addition of Siemens Deka 4 Mototron 80lb injectors and Pro Torque 2,200 torque converter. I'm gonna see if we can leave the possibility open for a nitrous add somewhere down the line. I don't know yet how far I want to climb down the rabbit hole. I just know that I'm smelling the hell outta some bunny right now.

Trying to maintain uber street driveability. From what I've been told a 3,000 stall could have an adverse effect on the car's ability as a daily driver. No?

I think you are headed the right direction with the converter, it will more than likely flash a little higher with the blower and especially if you throw the giggle juice to it.

I believe RonP (member here) runs a 3200 FTI TC. He was at CF3 driving a yellow RT. Cars comes out of the hole smartly! I spoke with him regarding the TC and he loves it.

Give him a PM.

Worry about the giggle juice after you pop this motor and have the built one put in....

:D

His build "sheet" at the end of page 1 has Arrington 392 short block, I assume it is forged? No?

Ah...gotcha. Sorry, Jim. Yeah, definitely have a plumbed 90mm installed. Highly recommend a Nitrous Outlet kit if you're going to install one. Keep the shot small....say 50 -75. Don't screw around with a ZEX kit like I did. It's a waste if you want to step up. If you see yourself going a bigger shot down the road, then make sure you discuss the compression ratio with Arrington. I was pushing things pretty good at the TX Mile when I upped my shot with the boost I was pushing and my CR.

vroom vroom...

Just saw this, been busy and trying to catch up. Looks like an interesting build!

Make sure the spark plugs are swapped out for some iridums 1 step colder. Two steps when you go to the nitrous. Best to go ahead and get that done now.

AJ will know what plugs to use for your car. He's the one that recommended the Iridiums in mine.

Hey Speedy. We've added "NGK SPARK PLUGS" to the list. I think these are the one's you're talking about.

U.F.O.

I used NGK Iridiums in mine, AJ will have you squared away on which ones fit your application.

I'm excited to see this. Your build is what has had me on the phone with Pierre at Arrington since January. I have a 2011 R/T so I plan to go 426 with the maggie and do it all in one shot. Considering the trans, rear end, PCM on top of the engine and SC, it's going to be more than I paid for the car so I'm in gut check mode but I hope to schedule my build next month.
