Wow, you're ballsy. Speedy and I don't take our cars out if it's more than a 20% chance of rain.

lol

I know, I live on the edge and sometimes I get bit by it...Today is 30% so I'm slumming it in the Bronco.

For everyone who thought I was making a mistake by not getting gauges when I did the original PCM swap, I am this time. Boost and A/F. Also, a fire extinguisher, bolted to the passenger floorboard. This, hopefully, is the whole 9 yards.

U.F.O.

BTW. If I ever sell this car, some of you SOB's outta jump on this MF'er with both feet! :D

Thx rander. I'll document this build here. It really is gonna be a doozie! A 1st again. 1st forged factory 392 with ported heads. Close to 700 rwhp. Can't wait. This street car won't quite be your Momma's 392 Challenger!

Jim from True Street Performance (formerly The Hemi Shop) will be installing a cam in my 392 next week, and AJ will be tuning it. He told me that this would be the limit of the stock internals, but that it would be ok. I am running 585rwhp right now at 6psi on the Maggie. If I wanted to raise the boost, then it becomes another 15k in upgrades (forging internals, tranny upgrades, 1000hp axles, etc.). I will keep everyone posted on how the car runs with the cam. Jim said it would be totally street driveable (it's my daily driver) and safe. I am super psyched to see how it sounds after as well. He let me listen to it on a 5.7L Charger with the stock exhaust and it sounded great!

UPDATE: We are waiting on the cam because right now, the one we picked does not work well with the VVT. We are waiting until some new ones are released that are friendly with the VVT and a bit easier to tune.

I have been waiting on a VVT cam to be available for the 392 for a while now...any updates on this?

I already did ARH long tubes 1 7/8" and ported heads (wanted to do a cam at the same time but I couldn't look at my parts collection any longer and had it installed and tuned a couple months ago). I had contacted Arrington in January and over the phone was told NOT to do a cam yet...not to lock the VVT as this would cost more power than it gained and would be hard to tune for...they said their solution would be best and ready end of summer to end of year latest...but via email I asked for an update a month ago and they suggested that the Arrington cam project in testing WAS a comp cam custom ground with phase limiters...confused me. Can't a slightly larger VVT cam be made? I am seeking another realistic 25 or so hp (mostly mid-range) from a cam and a bit more lope.

I'd like to stay N/A a while and just current build plus cam (no plans for NOS to be honest...at MOST maybe 75 shot but that's unlikely)...most likely a ProCharger further down the road but budget won't allow that this year...maybe middle of next year.

Still no word on a reliable VVT cam...AJ is working on it with the tuning....the VVT is a pain in the butt. If I hear anything, I will let everyone know...please do the same!

Due to the recent findings on the weak pistons in the 392's, I would be more concerned about getting reliable piston before a cam. Do the drop in forged pistons, leave the stock cam, turn the boost up, all done. :)

My dealer has the cam, I just need to look to see what all else I need to install it. There was a big thread on it but it got to be like 100 pages long and I couldn't find the actual info in there.

This right here is solid advice. Don't wait for the cam, spend the money on drop in pistons and enjoy that bitch.

Ahh, you won't need most of it, your heads have already been tweaked....most of it is springs and pushrods. You can use the stock timing set, though yours may be upgraded which is good too.

That is pretty much it as far as I know. I'm sure Andy, Erik, or James can let you know for sure.
